Rattrap1 writes:

We're working on some ideas for our Star Command heroes (which is more pulpy than Star Trek but quite useable in that vein).

You'll be able to make all kinds of aliens from all the different sci fi franchises with Planet X when it comes out.

Rattrap1 of Rattrap Productions writes:

Another year is close to coming to an end, and it has been great for us here at Rattrap Productions. More new books, more new miniatures, and a record sales year with still a month to go. But we're not content to rest on our laurels, so it's time to talk a little about 2009.

First up... the news!

Starting in 2009, Brigade Games will be producing a line of licensed Rattrap miniatures. We want to focus our time and energy here on getting more print products, and decided it was time to seek a partner to handle our miniature releases. After extensive conversations, a deal was worked out with Brigade Games for them to produce a line of licensed miniatures for us and take over the current line.

What does this mean for you? There will be very little in the way of changes. You will still be able to order all your books and miniatures through Rattrap Productions. You will however, get more regular miniature releases with packs coming out approximately every three months.

Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly cover

When is a Magazine, not a Magazine?

When it's Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly! Starting in March 2009, we are going to release a quarterly book under the Thrilling Expeditions title. This 56-page book will retail for $9 USD and include scenarios for all our games; articles on running games, creating scenarios, historical facts and more; fiction that helps expand the growing Rattrap universe; and a full-color section with hobby tutorials. But this will not be a magazine that comes out and goes away. Retailers will be able to restock this book even after the newest ones have been released.

And the best part... no ads to detract from content. Since this will be a regular book release with the ability for restocks, there will be no need for us to make up profits with ads. You will be getting useful material from cover to cover.

And to make sure you always know what you're getting, we'll be posting the Table of Contents online for each issue. No guessing if there are enough articles to interest you. No need to spend money in this tight economy for something you only want one article from. Plus, since it won't be a magazine, no need to pay collector prices when an issue leaves the newsstand. Just order direct from your favorite retailer for the cover price.

The first issue will also contain a color tutorial from GRIMM of Lead Adventure fame on building jungle scenery.

Our second issue will be the All-Western issue with plenty of rules for running Old West, Zorro, and fringe world scenarios and characters. Later with our 3rd and 4th issues we'll be adding jet bikes for Fantastic Worlds, expanded creature and horror rules for .45 Adventure, and some larger unit action for Gloire and Broadsword Adventures.

And good news for all you budding writers, builders, and painters... We're looking for contributors. That's right, if you have a great scenario you would like to share or photos from a recent game, or a great scratch-build you would like to share, we're interested in putting them in print. We'll be releasing details on the website soon for this.

Release Schedule for the First Quarter

January Release

Planet X

Planet X: Terror from Across the Universe. This supplement for Fantastic Worlds will expand on the creature rules from the main rulebook. There are more creature types, multiple sizes, and lots of new abilities as well as some psychic abilities for physically weaker races. And like all our books, plenty of new scenarios to get the creative ideas flowing. The book will be 90 pages and retail for $18.00 USD.

February Releases

Ye Mean and Mighty. Our rogues gallery for Gloire will now be coming in print edition. Like the Mooks, Mobs, and Men of Honor for .45 Adventure, this book will sell for $8.00 USD.

The Office of Emerson P. Balldridge. This resin miniature set will include desk, file cabinet, safe, and a crate suitable for any Pulp office set-up. Of course, seeing as it's Balldridge's office, a crate is necessary to contain his latest acquisition. This set will retail for $10.00 USD.

March Releases

Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly Volume 1, No. 1. This 56-page title will retail for $9.00 USD.

New Commerce Police. This two-pack of metal miniatures will contain two members of the New Commerce police force. One armed with pistol and one armed with either a shotgun or Thompson sub-machinegun. This pack will retail for $7.00 USD.

Sgt. Grant vs. The Oni. This metal miniature two-pack will feature in one of the scenarios in Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly Vol. 1, No. 1. It releases a new version of Sgt. Grant and includes a Japanese demon for him to battle. This pack will retail for $7.00 USD.

The Beast of Gévaudan. This four-pack of metal miniatures will contain three hunters and a gypsy queen for use with the Gloire scenario of the same name from Thrilling Expeditions Quarterly Vol. 1, No. 1. This pack will retail for $12.00 USD.

We have even more planned for later in the year, so stay tuned - and be sure to head over to the Speakeasy, our forums, for all the latest news and inside tips on all our games.
