Also, once the cards are known, won't all of the expert players know which areas not to scratch?

I would presume the choices are of equal benefit.

Then again, could I just scratch them all off and cover up (low adhesive masking tape) the ones I don't want to use in a particular game?

NG International writes:

An evolution of trading card games created by the Italian group E-Nigma and published by Alimat introduces the innovative Scratch & Play mechanic that allows cards customization

Prodigy

Essen Spiel 2010: NG International has acquired the worldwide distribution rights of the new card game Prodigy, developed by the Italian design studio e-Nigma and published by Alimat. Prodigy is the first card game using the innovative Scratch & Play system: every card has random power values, which can be uncovered according to the game strategy adopted.

Prodigy will be presented to the public for the first time at the NG International booth during the Essen Spiel 2010 (Hall 12, booth 56), where it will be possible for players to try and purchase the game.

"We are very excited of bringing Prodigy to the international market. It's a very interesting evolution of trading card games, where instead of buying random cards, the cards include a possibility of customization through the "scratch and play" system, so that players can generate many 'versions' of the same card through scratching a part of it," said Salvatore Pierucci, CEO of NG International.

"For us this deal is a very important footstep" - said Paolo Ceccarelli, publishing director of Alimat - "that allows us to complete the Prodigy 'team'. NG International is the company that served us to place side by side to e-Nigma, the Italian team of research and development, and Cartamundi, the multinational team that supports us in the production of the cards. Prodigy Game Cards is a great challenge that we want to face next to professionals with a lot of experience."

Prodigy is premiered through a Teaser Deck which is a non-collectible, one-player set with 63 cards, at a suggested price of €12.90 EUR ($14.90 USD in the U.S.A.). The game will be on sale worldwide in November 2010.
