Kenneth F. Levin of the law firm of Kenneth F. Levin and Associates has sent us the following press release (which was also copied to Majestic Twelve Games):

Dear Sirs:

We are counsel for Mike Grell and First Comics Inc., the owner of the copyright and trademark interests in the long-running comic books and intellectual property Starslayer. It has come to our attention that you are trading on our clients' intellectual property and good name with a game which you are calling Starslayer.

Starslayer comic by Mike Grell

All of the books which are in publication are covered by copyright laws, and have copyright notices. Moreover, Starslayer has obtained secondary meaning in the marketplace, where it is readily identified with Mike Grell, its creator, writer and artist, and with First Comics, its primary publisher.

Starslayer from Majestic Twelve

Your use of this title trades upon their good name, creates confusion in the marketplace, and violates various federal, state and common laws, including among them copyright and trademark statutes and the Lanham act. You are hereby respectfully notified and instructed to cease and desist from use of the Starslayer name without permission, to remove all references to the name from all products and all internet postings, and to confirm to this office within 72 hours of you compliance with this directive. Failure to so comply will result in further legal action.
