Like Pictor Studio says, you pay VAT on most things you buy in the UK, including figures from large UK manufacturers, that's the cost of living in a country with free healthcare and reasonable schools. The £8.00 GBP charge by the Post Office for filling in a simple form is another matter – that really is a rip-off.
