Ken – They're aimed at 28mm?? but you can use them for any scale – just depends on how big your table is I guess. They're mostly Regimental/Battalion based.

Typically 4 figures to a base – some frugal gamers have been known to use 3! Regiments 5/6/7 or more stands depending on your preference/scenario. You could easily use stuff based up for F&F……

I was influenced by a friend and now most of mine are in 7 stand regiments the center one having the command + flags on it – they have nice "look" to them.
His arguement was – do ratios matter? If your playing a game where in reality most regiments were say 270 to 320 strong then use this as the "mean" size – just up the number for bigger units, etc. ~(some of my Zouaves units have 11 stands).

Games are quite bloodthirsty, (well actually very!) – or that's what I first thought – but on reflection they need to be if you're gonna have a game finished in 2-3 hours.

If you want super-detailed rules then these aren't the ones to go for – if you want an enjoyable bash then try 'em!

New Supplement for Rank and File

ACW supplement for Rank and File

Rank and File is the Horse-and-Musket period set of rules from Crusader Publishing. Due out this month is the first supplement for Rank and File, The American Civil War.

The American Civil War supplement for Rank and File includes a historical background to the war, as well as game aids that can be used with any rules system. There are optional and period-specific rules, as well as detailed weapon statistics, command ratings and army organisation.

Almost 1,000 leader ratings for both sides of the conflict and army lists that are broken down by theater and year allow players to design their own scenarios, create balanced forces for pick-up games, or calculate troop quality and strength for historical battles.

ACW supplement for Rank and File

This supplement adds a further level of detail to the command-and-control aspect of Rank and File with a comprehensive order system that takes account of leader ratings, orders issued, distances, and staff quality. Optional army morale rules allow large or small games to be played to a definite conclusion within an evening. This allows players to game larger conflicts with all of the problems and uncertainty of command that was a factor in so many ACW battles.

While much of the material included is of use with any rules system, a copy of the Rank and File rules are required to gain the most from this supplement.

We are offering a post-free, worldwide offer on all pre-orders for this book. Offer ends once the book is with us, planned for the 29th of March. The ACW supplement costs £15.00 GBP.

Crusader Miniatures will also be offering some unit deals on their ACW infantry packs to compliment Rank and File and the new supplement.
