Battle of Rocroi
May 19th, 1643

Scenario

Battle of Rocroi (or Rocroy). It took place on 19 May 1643, between the French army under the command of the young Louis II of Bourbon, then Duke of Enghien and later Prince of Condé, and the Spanish army under the Portuguese Francisco de Melo, Captain General of the Tercios of Flanders. The battle, which began before dawn, lasted about six hours and ended with the French victory.

Rocroi

Scenario: The French Army under the newly arrived Prince of Condé, marched to relieve the siege of Rocroi. General Francisco de Melo's Spanish army was confident of victory!

The battle that began the end of the Spanish Tercio. For over 300 years, Spanish troops dominated the battlefields around the globe, after mastering the art of war to eject the Muslims from Spain. This battle began the slow demise of a superpower. We have made this scenario available in the Free Scenarios folder of the REPENTORDIE Sub Group for use with our Repent or Die! Renaissance rules.
