Great to hear of the commitment, Paul. Thanks a lot (and more so once I can buy them :-)

>We always see the 'early' landsknechts.

Well, not really. Early landsknechts are almost non-existant, as the first units called thus show up around 1487 (Burgundian Succession war, Stoke Field). From then on they show up in Germany, Scandinavia, Austria, Hungary and Italy. The first major war, the Swabian war, sees a couple of larger pitched battles against the Swiss in 1499 and sees its "Italian" climax at Cerignola. (search for Battle of Dorneck for an example)

This style is not available for Landsknecht or Swiss in plastic or metal.

What we do have aplenty is the "high time", from Marignano over Pavia to Vienna 1529. All these lack is some good plastic and the "other" infantry, like French, Italians or Spanish.

I agree that the later Landsknechts, from around the invasion of Algier over Ceresole to Mühlberg and into the French wars of Religion and the Dutch war of Independence are also underrepresented, if not blank. These would have the most flamboyant style, with trousers stuffed to the point of absurdity (from some, not all), but their efficiency here was already climaxed by other units. Tercios, Reiters, late Gensdarmes and Dutch … a lot of mileage for WG to go if they intend to do so.

Warlord Games are delighted to announce we have purchased Pro Gloria Miniatures, and their superb range of 28mm Landsknecht figures.

Paul Sawyer of Warlord Games says: "Our Pike & Shotte game system is very dear to our hearts, and we continue to expand our already comprehensive English Civil Wars and Thirty years Wars ranges. We have long wanted to add the legendary Landsknechts to our offer, so when Stephan contacted us about taking his wonderful range on, it was an easy decision! Stephan's choice to come to Warlord Games with his 'baby' shows a great deal of confidence in what we're doing here, and we hope this won't be the last range we bring into the Warlord fold. We are looking forward to making these beautiful models available soon, and adding to the range in the near future."

Stephan Huber, owner of Pro Gloria, says: "I am very pleased Pro Gloria is now in such good hands. Between Pro Gloria and my full-time job, I wasn't able to give either the range or its many fans the attention they deserved, so finding a good home for it became essential. Warlord Games have a proven track record for taking other ranges on to a different level, so this will be great news for gamers and painters keen on this period of history. It was also very important to me that I could remain involved in the development of the range – I simply can't get enough of 16th Century Landsknechts!".

Pike & Shotte is Warlord Games' game system, allowing players to fight massed battles across the tabletop – battles set during the period 1500-1700, both real or imagined.

We'd like to thank Stephan for offering us Pro Gloria, and for agreeing to remain on hand to help us develop this range further with his passion and knowledge for this period of history.
