Not to mention that when you play 40k without all of the spiffy sci-fi things 40k is balanced around (mechanized infantry, jump packs, teleporting critters, um critters in general, slicey dicey whirlie girls with swords) it is almost a completely different game from what most people consider "40k".

It takes a few games to get the hang of planning, manuvering, and executing an assault – but wow is it worth it.

(Then again I am about as biased as Rob.)

Warhammer Historical's new rulebook, The Great War, will be in stock this week at North Star.

The Great War

I received a sample copy. It looks fantastic, full of colour photos of WWI miniatures and terrain, featuring lots of Great War Miniatures as well as others.

The system was developed from Warhammer 40K, and the organisation is at battalion level, allowing you to field tanks in the 1918 armies.

This is the first, core rulebook for a series of books on WWI planned from Warhammer Historical.

The book is retailing at £20.00 GBP.
