Russ – don't get too downhearted with the nay-sayers. In my experience many of the people that dislike Old Glory fgures have never bought any, painted any or seen them in the flesh so to speak. I close friend of mine described them as grotesque and was certain that he would never buy any. I painted up a lot of your French and Indian Wars figures, put on a game and didn't mention what manufactuer they were until he asked. Before I told him, he has said how nice they were and how much they "looked the part". Round one to OG. I did the same thing again when I built up my Indian Mutiny collection, its a mix of OG, Foundry, Dixon and others. I mixed the OG and Foundry about 2/3 to 1/3 and he struggled to work out which ones were OG and which ones were is his favourite manufacturer.
OG are more expensive in the UK than the US, but at just over £20.00 GBP for 30 28mm figures I don't think you can really go wrong. There are plenty of nice figures out there, but I hesitate to spend £1.50 GBP for a foot figure and £2.50 GBP or more for cavalry. OG at least gives me the chance to buy large armies, nice figures, honestly a joy to paint and above all – with a couple of exceptions – a full range with opposing sides.
I have bought one box of the Blue Moon figures for the FIW and I do like them. Expensive by comparison but fun figures, nice poses, already based too.
Just ignore the moaners and groaners Russ and keep at it.
