Baker Company have started a new Kickstarter for a new range of 28mm miniatures for the Winter War between Finland and Soviet Russia of 1939-1940.
The range includes Finnish Soldiers in snow camouflage, and also early Red Army soldiers which are not currently available from other miniature companies. Eventually, the range will be available as blister packs of four miniatures for each type of soldier (running rifleman, etc.). However, for Kickstarter, each pledge level includes a fighting unit which includes non-commissioned officers (NCOs), submachineguns (SMGs), light machineguns (LMGs), and riflemen, as you will need them in most miniature wargames.
Who Are We?
Baker Company is a small but established wargames-miniatures producer with successful Vietnam and Zulu War ranges. After casting the miniatures for over two years, I (Gavin Tyler) brought the company in a look to increase the ranges available and continue to produce first-class wargame miniatures. I sculpt, make the molds, and cast the miniatures myself, but for this project, I will be getting some well-needed help!
I have been sculpting for ten years, and sculpted the Hour of Glory and No-Go-Zone ranges for Warm Acre, as well as the Vietnam War Anzacs for Baker Company.
Why Kickstarter?
Baker Company has a Winter War range in existence, but unfortunately, it does not match up with other successful WWII ranges currently on the market. We want to completely re-make the range, and at the same time be able to release new elements not available before.
To produce a range of this scale normally would take six to twelve months, with time and resources being used on other projects, and the normal day-to-day running of a small miniatures company. Putting this project on Kickstarter will give us a great boost to get most of the range produced in a shorter period of time, all for the benefit of the gamer – you!
