I know Hubble Space Telescope images are public domain, but to take a good high res one and put on hex layers and whatnot-- that's a really good product idea. Definitely worth the $2. USD

Thankfully whomever made this chose not to put the awful watermarks that some PDFs have on it. That would have ruined the product to have text on every page you print out.

For anyone making a more permanent table, might I suggest putting a sheet of plexiglass/acrylic down on the table after you put down the printed sheets? Works great-- even a thin 1/8" sheet.

Universal Space Combat Battlemap – Tarantula Nebula

Tarantula Nebula Map

Publisher: Melior Via

If you're playing a space-combat miniatures game, you need a surface to track your movement. This PDF presents a printable map, with a background generated from satellite imagery. Printing and assembling all 42 pages creates a contiguous map large enough to cover a table of up to 72" x 48". If your play space is a little bit smaller, it's easy to just print and assemble a smaller version.

The file also uses Adobe Acrobat layers so that it may be printed with 1" hexes, 1.5" hexes, or 2" squares, making it useful for a variety of scales and rule systems. (Just make sure to turn off the layers you don't want.) Hex dimensions are measured flat-side to flat side. Alternatively, it may be printed without any grid overlay for a huge poster map.

Please be forewarned that printing this document uses a substantial amount of ink — even with a brightly colored nebula, there's a lot of black in space.

Price: $1.99 USD
