Whilst lockdown has been on, Wargaming for Grown-Ups has been working with the Northamptonshire Battlefields Society on a new publication, covering the battles and battlefields of Northamptonshire.
Situated as the crossroads of England, Northamptonshire has seen many campaigns and battles, including some of the country's most significant. Local historian and Chair of the Society, Mike Ingram (author of the definitive book on the Battle of Bosworth, amongst others), and Wargaming for Grown-Ups' rules writer, Graham Evans, have together written the first comprehensive survey of military action in the County, from Boudicca's Rebellion through to the Black Watch Mutiny (and the Battle of Waterloo!). The book also covers the Saxon and Viking eras, the post-Conquest history, the 1st and 2nd Barons Wars, the Wars of the Roses, the 17th Century Midland Revolts, and the 1st and 2nd Civil Wars as well – with a new perspective on the Battle of Naseby. Complete with maps and illustrations, this book has been written by two military historians, with both the specialist and generalist in mind.
The book is approximately 160 pages and retails for £9.99 GBP. It can be bought direct from the Society. Details are on our Facebook page or you can email wildrat1460@gmail.com for more information. Postage and packing from the Society is £3.00 GBP (U.K.) or £7.00 GBP (worldwide). Or you can buy from Amazon in most regions (although the Society makes more money if you buy direct from them).
By the way, there's often a lot of good stuff going on over at the NBS Facebook page anyway, so it's worth joining/following anyway.
