Aussiejed of Eureka Miniatures writes:

Bringing a little light-heartedness to this often grim subject, we present the iconic image of a much-loved ANZAC larrikin tradition: troops of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps gambling on the fall of two pennies. Known as Two Up in the Antipodes, the game is still played today. Most notably, it is only legal to play outside of certain casinos, on Anzac Day (25th April).

The scene shows a Senior Officer stumbling across a group of Diggers absorbed in their illicit recreation.

Gallipoli Diorama

For those who would like to know more about Two Up, there is a very useful article on Wikipedia. For those who are interested to take part in a game, or to see how it is played, there will be a chance to join a Two Up School at this year's Salute. The show is being held on the 100th Anniversary of the Gallipoli Landings (25th April). No money will be changing hands, but vouchers will be awarded for successful players. These can be redeemed at the Eureka stand.

We will be making further ANZAC dioramas during the commemorative period (up to 2018). Keep watching our website and reading our newsletter for further details.
