I enjoey re enactment societies. I have a Flames of War 2nd SS Battalion in my ranks. But what I do not paint or have never owned is a SS Nurse or a HJ model. As a wargamer and modeller I have no problem at all with whatever unit someone chooses to depict. But their motives do become questionable when they supposedly represent a fighting unit and then bring kids and wives dressed as Nazi Non Combatants also I don't have a problem selling miltary memorabilia but the mugs could have had either a 1st SS logo or picture of a relevant marked fighting vehicle not I repeat Not Adolph Hitler. Other Societies do have children and women dressed up but in an earlier age this is what historically happened Ancients and even Napoleonics had these people follow them around hundreds of miles with their baggage trains. So this would be historically acceptable. But how many Nazi Soldiers had their wives and children on campaign. These types of uniform and clothing should be left where they are best viewed and with less controversy and that would be a museum or military history show. This I think it was makes people doubt the actual motives of re enactor from groups like this.

The Committee of the South London Warlords announces:

Re: Salute Zero Seven

Salute apology

The Committee of the South London Warlords wishes to apologise unreservedly for any offence caused by their choice of a display by German World War 2 re-enactors for Salute Zero Seven.

We failed to provide a clear specification of what we were expecting from the re-enactors and given that we had seen them at other shows, were ourselves dismayed by certain elements of what they provided. Parts of this display were definitely not what we expected.

However, while steps were taken to address certain issues raised, we accept that our attempts to put things right on the day were clearly inadequate.

Please be assured that we did not intend to cause any offence to anyone and will do our best to ensure that a mistake like this does not happen again.

Yours Sincerely,

Committee,
South London Warlords
