Askari Miniatures are moving to a new environment: the jungle!
Up until this year, all Askari Miniatures have been designed to fight in the desert – whether it is the Sahara, the Kalahari or the Taklamakan. With the release of the Foreign Legion in Tonkin, we've moved into the jungle.
We've received the painted samples, and they're up on the site. Here I've photographed a few in jungle scenery.
While these are painted in khaki, you could also paint them in the earlier period Infanterie de Marine uniforms of dark blue jackets and white trousers and helmets.
Furthermore, since the Marines/Colonial Infantry dressed the same way, these figures could be used for them as well.

Australians in the Jungle
Our desert-themed Australians can also be used for jungle campaigns. To illustrate the point, we've painted a batch of our Australians in their jungle uniform colors.
This follows the history of the Australians in World War II: the Australian 6th Division, for example, fought in the Western Desert from 1940-41 and then moved east, where it fought in New Guinea in 1942-43.
