I think this is a bit generous for an army that had been in garrison status in America for a decade or so. Look how poorly they did at Lexington – Concord and then Bunker (Breeds) hill.

From what I have read the British had slacked off on the light infantry style tactics the had been put together during the Seven Years War.

We're very pleased at WiP HQ to announce the full release of On Bloody Ground – The American War of Independence.

All pre-orders have now been shipped out, and should start to arrive this week!

OBG – The American War of Independence

As with all of our OBG titles, this book keeps all the mechanics that are the solid core of our rules, and adds period flavor through army choices, army-specific rules, characters, and new keywords.

If you have played On Bloody Ground before, or have been waiting for this period to be released before you jump into the game, once you've learned the core mechanics, you won't have to re-learn them when you try out a new book!

The British Army uses tactics fresh from the French and Indian War, with open-order formations of drilled line troops, with a solid command structure. Allied support comes in the form of Loyalist forces, with some more unusual options like the ferocious Highlander emigrants, or from the Hessians with their infamous Jagers…

The Continental Army itself is very different, with less choice for more hardened infantry within their own army, but with a wider variety of militia, fighting in more traditional fashion compared to the British. The French bring in much needed support as allies, and are considered to be a key reason that the Americans eventually won the war!

The Spanish army can also be taken with their infamous commander – Bernardo de Galvez. Although never fighting directly in the same battles as the Continental Army, the Spanish were a constant thorn in the side of the British, and being led by one of the best commanders of the war, are also a force to be reckoned with!

We're very happy to have been able to pack this book full of armies, all of which bring a wide variety of different choices with which to build your force!

The American War of Independence is a 62-page, perfect-bound book, with exciting list-building options, as well as the common-sense, tactical and challenging wargame rules that are the cornerstone of On Bloody Ground!

You can order now here.
