The M9 was also a 2.36", although it fired a more powerful rocket. The 3.5" M20 "Super Bazooka" wasn't produced until the very end of WWII and wasn't actually issued until the Korean War.

FWIW, the "stove pipe" (M20A1) was still in service in the US Army in 1968. Contrary to popular mythology, they weren't recoilless; they kicked like mules and could inflict a pretty good shiner if you didn't press you eye firmly against the sight. The backblast could vaporize a wooden ammo crate 75' behind the firing position. The rocket was so slow that at 500 meters you had time to put the weapon and track the rocket to its target.

Now that we have our Bolt Action WWII game, and the various nations are having their army supplements released, we are taking the opportunity to bring our miniatures ranges into line with them. We've done this for a handful of packs so far, but now we are going to ramp this up by dealing with a new army regularly.

The first of these will be the U.S. Airborne. Read on to find out what has changed…

US Airborne

The first thing to notice, and the biggest change, is the contents of the Screaming Eagles boxed set, which not only has a different mix of U.S. Airborne figures, but also now includes a full-color decal sheet for the 101st Airborne! The box now contains:

  • HQ: one officer and two paratroopers
  • HQ: one forward observer
  • twelve-man squad: NCO and two paratroopers with Thompson SMG, two-man .30 cal light machinegun team, seven paratroopers with rifles or carbines
  • two-man Bazooka team
  • 60mm mortar and two crew
  • full-color waterslide decal sheet

The rest of the range has also been reorganized to make it more in tune with our Bolt Action army lists. You can see them all here:
