Egads! Bad weather cancelled my game. Time to look for some new rules to read…

DAY OF BATTLE IV: The Middle Ages

DAY OF BATTLE IV: The Middle Ages Fourth time a charm! Great set of medieval rules allows you to field medieval armies as a great warlord. Choose your style of play via your warlord type (Raider, Mercenary, or Chivalric), and the clever honor mechanism rewards your actions – and punishes your failures – in every battle. The higher the honor, the more capable and prestigious your leader. Makes for a great campaign-style series of battles every time you play a one-off game.

Summon your forces through simulated feudal system using deck of regular playing cards. Stand-based system, variable moves, special formations such as shield wall and wedge, and ten domains (army lists) allow you build armies for Normans, Anglo-Saxons, feudal English, feudal Scots, feudal French, feudal Germans, Crusaders, Seljuk Turk, 100 Years War French, 100 Years War English, and Wars of the Roses.

8.5x11, well-illustrated, two card-stock reference cards included. $20.00 USD (due in at end of February)

WITCHFINDER GENERAL

WITCHFINDER GENERAL: Days of Revelation Set during the period of the 17th Century leading up to the English Civil Wars.

Courageous Witchfinders battle against the many vile abominations that plague a once green and pleasant land. Clandestine vampire factions, aided by their loyal Guardsmen of Blind Obedience, secretly strive to gain ultimate power over a deceived nation. Cruel barguests create fear and mayhem across town and country. Evil witchcraft is rife; vicious werewolves savage the innocent and crazed noctelinger hunt in the shadows.

The game is inspired by folklore, myth, and the propaganda pamphlets produced by all sides involved in the English Civil Wars. Witchfinder General: Days of Revelation provides background and rules for using: Witchfinders; Angry Villagers; Clubmen; Pikemen; Musketeers; Dragoons; Cavalry; Vampires; Werewolves; Witches; Noctelinger; and Barguests. $29.00 USD (in stock)

FIELD OF GLORY: Napoleonic

FIELD OF GLORY: Napoleonic Osprey FoG goes Napoleonic. An approachable and easy-to-learn manner to allow players to concentrate on realistic deployments and battlefield tactics of the early modern era. FoGN will cater for both types of player, with a full point system allowing theoretical battles between balanced armies to be played out, as well as accommodating factual scenarios. The rulebook will maintain the same production values as previous FoG and FoGR releases and will be designed both to explain the game and be a reference guide when playing. To make the rules easier to follow, detailed descriptions and explanations of unusual situations in a similar way to our Ancients and Renaissance rulebooks. $35.00 USD (due in early March)

OMM will be running demo games of FoGN at Cold Wars at our booth!

BOOK…

VIRGINIA'S WESTERN WAR: 1775-1786 More than any other colony, Virginia looked to the west for its future. After the French and Indian War, the Royal Proclamation of 1754 declared that officers and soldiers would be paid with parcels of western land, vaguely extending about eighty miles in all directions from Lexington. By 1768, most of the area had been explored by the Long Hunters, including Daniel and Squire Boone, James Knox, Hasker Mansker, and the Skagg Brothers. These brave, enterprising men battled both with nature and with the Indians, bringing their families to settle this rough frontier. Virginia's Western War traces the little-known period of colonial history. 26 maps and 20 b/w photos. $30.00 USD (due in at end of February)
