After WWII, the U.S. Air Force needed to replace the P-61 Black Widow with more capable night fighters. The early answers were the F-89 Scorpion and F-94 Starfire. While the F-94 saw action in Korea, despite a long service career, the F-89 Scorpion was retired before seeing combat.
