Dionysus is a bearded adult male in early depictions, it was in later depictions he was shown as an androgynous youth. (Just do a google image search for 'Dionysus vase' and you'll see dozens of the bearded 'manly' version). We went with the earliest version, with a bit of Brian Blessed's bombast thrown in for fun.

We're not really trying to create a literal interpretation of the gods – these are Demigods, so he is the son of Dionysus and a mortal woman.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone.

Demigod of Ares

Here's the latest update on the WarGods Kickstarter… we have just finished another demigod – Ares, the God of War! The figure was sculpted by Chris FitzPatrick, based on concept art by Des Hanley.

Ares multi-view

He's armed to to teeth: he's charging forward with a spear upraised to strike, and has a pair of daggers laced to his legs, and a spare javelin carried on his back. Even his shield can be used as a weapon, with two punch daggers protruding from the front. This is a miniature for the guys who don't play nice!

Check out the extra photos on the Croc forum for more views from other angles of the mini.

We've also just unlocked the demigod son of Dionysus – the God of Wine! Who's ready for a good time? This miniature is now available as a purchasable Add-On, or included free with all rewards that include all eight demigods! Cheers!
