RULES…

FEUDAL PATROL: Skirmish Gaming in the Ancient, Medieval and Fantasy Periods

FEUDAL PATROL: Skirmish Gaming in the Ancient, Medieval and Fantasy Periods Bundle includes rules and decks. Feudal Patrol has been designed for solo, two-player, and team play. The solo option uses the concept of Posture to determine an opponent's reactions, depending on relative casualties, successes, and morale. Command friction is provided by the double-random activation system, that provides fog of war, drama, and unpredictability to games. Uses a card-based combat resolution mechanism, which eliminates the need for look-up tables and cross-referencing. Any single-based miniatures, in any scale, can be used. A typical game uses 20 to 50 figures per side, and can be played in two to three hours. $58.00 USD

ON THE BORDERLANDS OF GREAT EMPIRES: Transylvanian Armies 1541-1613

ON THE BORDERLANDS OF GREAT EMPIRES: Transylvanian Armies 1541-1613 In 1526, the army of the Hungarian kingdom was soundly defeated by the army of the Ottoman sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent, in the Battle of Mohacs. In the following decades, the lands that were once part of the Hungarian Crown were divided. On the eastern half of the former Hungarian kingdom, a new state was born: the Principality of Transylvania. For one and a half centuries (1541-1691), Transylvania was a distinct state on European maps, and played an important military and strategic role in the struggle between the Ottomans and the Hapsburgs in Central and South-East Europe. Follows the efforts of the Transylvanian rulers to organize and to defend their new state, during its first seven decades of existence (1541-1613). Includes 19 black-and-white illustrations, eight color plates, five maps, and one table. $35.00 USD

A VERY FINE REGIMENT: The 47th Foot During the American War of Independence, 1773-1783

A VERY FINE REGIMENT: The 47th Foot During the American War of Independence, 1773-1783 The 47th Regiment of Foot served throughout the whole of the American War of Independence. The regiment experienced the transition from peacetime soldiering in Ireland and New Jersey, through the deteriorating political situation, to open rebellion. Examines the regiment within the context of a British Army which was neither stuck in the past nor incapable of reform. New uniforms, weapons, and drill manuals reflected the lessons of the previous war within an environment of doctrinally innovative generals. Against this, the regiment had to train in an era of the financial parsimony and where the friction of peacetime soldiering mitigated against training objectives. Nevertheless, the 47th was called 'A Very Fine Regiment and Fit for Service' before it sailed for New Jersey in 1773. Includes eight pages of color plates, 20 black-and-white illustrations, five maps, and 10 tables. $40.00 USD

Many Afrikaners long celebrated their partial victory as the God-given justification for their subsequent dominion over Africans, while today Africans commemorate the war for its significance in their struggle against colonialism. Includes 24 black-and-white illustrations, 16 color illustrations, and 11 maps. $45.00 USD

MAGAZINES WITH WARGAMES…

STRATEGY & TACTICS #334: Rio Grande War Wargame

STRATEGY & TACTICS #334: Rio Grande War Wargame Two-player wargame on a hypothetical war between the United States and the Empire of Mexico following the American Civil War. The assumption is that France's Napoleon III decided to back up Maximilian with the French army to maintain his power in Mexico, and the U.S. responded with an invasion. At stake: The fate of North America! One side commands the Imperial forces (Maximilian and his French allies), and the other the Allies (U.S. and Mexican Republic). The central game mechanism is Action Points (AP). AP are a quantification of each sides command and logistical capabilities. Players expend AP to recruit units and conduct various military operations. Each hex on the map represents 45 miles. Each game turn represents one to two months. Combat units represent divisions, brigades, regiments, and groups of partisans/bandits. Infantry and cavalry units include attached artillery, pioneer and logistic support. Leaders represent an inspirational to competent commander plus whatever troops they bring to the field. Also includes magazine. $50.00 USD
