Duke Seifried Recovering from Surgery

Just talked to Duke about half-hour ago. Seems to be doing pretty good. Gets a bit tired easily and should be out of comission for another month or so --- work wise that is. He's basically relaxing and watching movies. He really appreciated all the good wishes and wants to thank one and all. Already missed out on a couple of wargame shows and doubts if he'ii make it to HCon. All seems well, however, and I'm sure Duke will be back as good as ever fairly soon.

Brian Beal reports:

Duke Seifried had triple bypass surgery on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Duke Seifried

The operation was a complete success. Duke is already doing his recovery exercises and should be going home Sunday, April 27th.

However, he will be unable to attend any conventions for the forseeable future.

Duke is one of the earliest American miniature manufacturers, and sculpted most of the figures himself: Heritage, Custom Cast, Der Kreigspielers Napoleonic, and Fantastiques Fantasy Figures.

As a former Vice President at TSR, he was instrumental in the huge explosion in popularity in D&D in the 80s.

At age 70+ he remains active as ever as an artist, rules designer, sculptor, painter, dioramist, model builder, and jazz guitarist.

His latest set of rules for the American Revolutionary War - Liberty or Death - will shortly be published in HMG Magazine.
