marco56: It's been a long while since I read about Le Bleu Mécanique uniform, but IIRC, it was a short-lived, hot-weather experiment in denim cloth, which the French Navy decided to test in China.

Notable in it's absence, in that the French Legation in Pekin was defended by Fusilier Marins (armed French sailors), the Mechanic Blue wouldn't be seen in China until the reinforcements arrived, after the relief of the legations.

Or so I think. None of my books on the topic are at hand.

Now Available: Foreign Legion & Marine Infantry for the Madagascar & Dahomey Campaigns

Continuing our move to Foreign Legion in campaigns outside of North Africa, we have this month released a second set of figures – this time for the Madagascar and Dahomey campaigns.

Foreign Legion

The figures above are painted in Infanterie de Marine uniforms of dark blue jackets and white trousers and helmets. These can be either the Marines or the Foreign Legion in Navy-issue uniforms.

The figures below are in khaki:

Foreign Legion in Madagascar

When the French decided to invade in 1895, the force included a battalion of volunteers from the Foreign Legion, half from each of the two Legion regiments. They were part of a Regiment d'Algerie, which also included two battalions of Tirailleurs Algeriens. For these you can use any of our Zouave or Tirailleur figures.
