Operation Doppelkopf
Tukkums, Latvia
August 20th, 1944

The Soviet offensive had driven a wedge into the German lines, and trapped Army Group North in the Courland area around Riga. Desperate to restore a land connection between Army Groups North and Center, the Germans planned a combined attack from East and West against the strung-out Soviet 51st Army, whose spearheads had touched the Gulf of Riga around the vital communications town of Tukkums. This effort would see Army Group Center concentrate an ad-hoc SS panzer brigade, as well as forces built around the 101st Panzer Brigade. These forces lacked corps artillery assets, so a call was put in asking for help from the Kreigsmarine.

Answering this call would be the Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen and her escorting destroyers. On the morning of August 20th, the calm enjoyed by the Soviet advance forces would be shattered by the heavy guns of the German Navy.

Operation Doppelkopf had begun.

This is a challenging scenario that will have you re-fighting it a few times. With the addition of the Prinz Eugen into the mix, it is definitely not your typical WWII scenario.
