Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943 box art by Mark Mahaffey

Issue 14 of Frontline General News is now complete and online! This issue is dedicated to previewing Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943, our new tense and fast-playing WWII tactical card game. I am excited to provide you with a full preview of the game in the feature article, including component artwork and function, rules, and a detailed example game with plenty of illustrations. Also included are design notes that cover various elements of the game, and explain the thought processes behind certain rules and design decisions. I hope that you'll enjoy reading Issue 14 and after doing so, will consider pre-ordering the game. CEW is completely ready for production of Spearpoint 1943, but we are waiting on some additional pre-orders before we invest in our first large print-run of the title.

Here is a direct link to the 13 Mb PDF.

Want to Win a copy of Spearpoint 1943?

Collins Epic Wargames, with the help of Boardgamegeek.com, is pleased to sponsor a giveaway contest that began February 1st, 2010. We'll be giving away 20 pre-orders that will all be signed and numbered! The contest will last two weeks. To enter, simply log in to your Boardgamegeek.com account during the contest period, follow the contest link below, and answer a few trivia questions about the game. For each correct answer, you'll receive an entry. The winners are all randomly drawn by the admins at Boardgamegeek.com two weeks after the contest begins.

No purchase is necessary to enter (see the contest page for all disclaimers and legal stuff). If you've already pre-ordered - go ahead and enter the contest! If you win, we'll either send you a second copy upon production or we can replace your pre-order with the winning entry! Hint: All of the answers to the contest trivia questions may be found in Issue 14 of our newsletter!

Upcoming Conventions CEW will attend

Collins Epic Wargames will be exhibiting our games at the following shows in February. If you're planning to attend, please stop by! If you're not planning to attend, there's still time to change your mind and register!

Williamsburg Muster, February 5-7, 2010 (Williamsburg, VA, odms-club.com/convention/index.html) - Hosting a tournament of Spearpoint 1943 here Saturday evening, February 6th.

Prezcon, February 24-28, 2010 (Charlottesville, VA, prezcon.com)

At each show, we'll have copies of Frontline General: Italian Campaign Introduction with the Deluxe Vinyl Map on hand for sale, and we'll be giving demos of Spearpoint 1943 constantly. Italian Campaign Introduction was our first game, released in 2008, and is an operational-level boardgame designed to generate tactical miniatures battles.

Enjoy the newsletter, good luck if you enter the contest, and I hope to see you at WM or Prezcon this month!
