Yessir, it is much more playable. I know some people really enjoyed doing all of the math and number crunching of the FF&S designs but I am like you, i preferred something that was a little more simple and gave me playable ships that I could work with. I do love Traveller, but though I strive for some realism in my games I am a "story over mechanics" type of GM and really appreciate the new design system. I bought the character generator program a few months ago and it's a hoot, can't wait for them to get the ship designer done!
