During our visits to a number of HMGS conventions in the U.S.A., we have become increasingly impressed by the concept behind the Hobby University system. Although you can occasionally find 'paint and take' events in the U.K. and Europe, they lack the same level of interest and sheer fun of those on the U.S. circuit.

So, in the spirit of sharing the hobby, we thought we would try to bring a 'taste' of the Hobby U to the U.K., and where better than at the largest one-day wargames show in Europe?

Thanks to the South London Warlords, organizers of this year's Salute 2015, once again proudly hosted at London Excel, Wargames Illustrated have been able to secure the usage of a dedicated 'Zone' near our trade stand. In addition to the four participation games we will be offering, the first-ever volunteers from a fledgling Hobby University U.K. 'team' will be offering a number of sessions throughout the day. We will have painting workshops from Jasmin Storey-Smith of The Command Stand and terrain-enhancing tips from the people behind the Sally 4th range.

At the end of each workshop, participants may take away the items they have been working on free of charge. We are also intending to run a competition to find the 'best' painter from each session with small prizes on offer. However, the main focus of the workshops will be to spend time learning a few new skills, enhancing those you already have, and just sharing an aspect of the hobby.

All of these workshops will take place during the posted time periods, and will be on a 'first come, first served' basis. Anyone under 16 must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

So, Come Over, Pick a Session & Join in With Hobby University U.K. at Salute 2015!
