In December 1944, SS-Kampfgruppe Peiper led the spearhead through American lines during the Ardennes Offensive. With a mixture of equipment including Panzer IVs, Panthers, and Königstigers, as well as elite SS Panzergrenadiers and Fallschirmjägers, they battered their way through the American lines. Stymied at every turn by "those damned engineers!" he never lost sight of the overall objective and pushed forward until they could go no further.
