All new years should start as they mean to go on, and so we release Kosta Heristanidis' 28mm Somalis and Alan Marsh's 28mm African market and African mob.

These four sets – masked Somalis, bare-headed Somalis, the African Market and African mob – can all be used together, as well as individually. Some of the market sellers and mob members wouldn't be out of place anywhere in the world where watches are bought and sold, and the fruit seller and cloth sellers can be used anywhere in the last 500 years or so. Consequently, we have split the full market into smaller sets.

As UNOSOM 11 (United Nations Operation in Somalia ll) peace-keeping troops came to learn, the Somali gunman was a determined and lethal opponent during the unfolding humanitarian disaster that was Somalia during the 1990s, which culminated in the famous Battle of Mogadishu and eventual withdrawal of the U.N. mission in that country.

The 28mm bare-headed Somali gunmen have been carefully sculpted to represent Somali or East African men, while the masked Somalis can double as gunmen in just about any Middle Eastern or North/Eastern African setting.
