It's interesting that the Bison, a ridiculously huge and luxurious 8 wheeled APC I saw coming into use was originally designed for the militia.

When I was with PMO Tank (the project to replace the Leopard that the PC government announced in 1988), there was a PMO MILLAV which stood for militia LAV.

When I first saw this vehicle prototype at LETE (the establishment in Ottawa, not DREO, for land ordinance - I may have the "LETE" wrong, I don't quite remember) - I was there working on thermal signature suppression for the Leo - I gasped at the size. A friend descibed it as an "equal opportunity" target for vision impaired Soviet gunners.

The Mowag garbage was/is wonderful for GM Diesel Division in London and I appreciate the jobs. It resulted in years of humiliation for the armoured corps, driving around "training tanks".
