Once got to visit Fort Know with the army.
They took us to thir new state of the art driver simulator building. The guide explained that the cost to poperate and drive an actual M1 Abrams tank was estimated at about $72 USD a mile based on fuel, wear, mainainance et cetera.

Meanwhile the driver simulator, and they were incredible, it was estimated that the cost per mile was perhaps about fifteen cents. While the building itself cost some where near $1.5 USD BBillion to build including the drivers simulator stations inside.

He than stated that the savings on driving the real thing, the fuel and wear and tear and repairs, it was estimated that the savings payed for the building and equipment in the first year of operation.

Needless to say, the US Army nakes every building after a renowned soldier followed by the word 'Hall'. So the driver simulator building in Fort Know was named "Pool Hall".

The guide wasn't prepared for one of our guys when he spoke out saying, "Only the Americans would spend $1.5 USD billion dollars ona Pool Hall!"

Anyone know if when their armor training center moved, did they move the driver simulator and the school of mounted warfare simulators too?
