I still don't understand why the very talented mr Houston can't try to reproduce osme of his best/more famous model also in the send a gunboat range. I, for one, would glad to see a china gunboat in the range.

Master Modeler Richard Houston has completed yet another 28mm scale wargames model of the U.S. Navy: Gunboat Monocacy.

USS Monocacy, 1914

Commissioned in 1914, she was intended for service on the Yangtse on the U.S. Navy's "China Station" squadron and will work perfectly for wargames vs. Chinese Pirates and the Nationalist Forces. She's 19.75" long, 5" on the beam, and mounts two 3" guns and four .30 Machine Guns behind splinter Shields.

As ever, this model is perfectly compatible with the wargame rules Boilers And Breechloaders, also available from TVAG's "Rules Page."

All are of greater detail and quality than even Richard's earlier work, utilizing new materials and techniques. Continuing a new practice, all ports (windows) have been cut "open" to allow views in, and figures to "point out." Naturally, all but the main decks are removable allowing full access to the interiors. Interior hatches, hand rails, and more make this the most visually interesting model to date.
