D'OH! Where was this years ago, when I was obliged to buy the set from Vatican Enterprises made by, um, who was it now? Hudson and Allen? I've forgotten. It was also 25mm scale and in a foam-type material. Not nearly as accurate, no removable roofs, and took me about a year to finish painting, a section at a time. I can't afford to buy another Alamo model set, even one as superior as this is, let alone have the patience to paint another one. D'OHH!!! D'OHHH!

To quote Ramon Martinez Caro, the secretary to Santa Anna:

At day break and at the agreed signal, our whole force moved forward to attack. The first charge was met with a deadly fire of shot and shell from the enemy, the brave Colonel of the Toluca Battalion, Fransisco Duque, being among the first who fell wounded.

His (second) column wavered as a result of his fall, while the other three columns were held in check (by the Texian fire) on the other front. His Excellence, seeing the charge waver, gave orders for the reserve to advance, the brave General Juan Valentin Amador, and General Pedro Ampudia, Colonel Esteban Mora, and Lieutenant-Colonel Marcial Aquirre succeed in gaining a foot hold on the North side where the strife was bitterest, which encouraged the soldiers in their advance and resulted in their capture of the enemies artillery on that side.

Blue Moon has just finished the Alamo fort in time for Historicon. This large and impressive fort is cast in resin, and comes in 43 pieces (which include lift-off roofs). When assembled, the fort measures approximately 40" wide by 58" long. The Alamo buildings are done in such a way that they can be used separately for other conflicts of this period, as well as the Mexican-American War and for Western gaming. The Alamo sells for $275.00 USD, and is eligible for the 40% discount for Old Glory Army members.

I have added a few pics on our Old Glory Flickr account, as well.

We have also released a set of four barricades (15ACC-100) for $8.00 USD. These barricades are each uniquely designed, and will be a great addition to this battle or in so many other eras of gaming.

Please note the fort was made from the references in The Illustrated Alamo 1836 by Mark Lemon.

Coming soon will be the announcement for the release of the Texas Revolutionary War figures to help fight this battle.

The Alamo fort is available for purchase on the Old Glory Corp manufacturers-direct website oldglory25s.com, as well as on the Blue Moon Manufacturing website bluemoonmanufacturing.com.
