Tank Destroyer platoons are central to the American doctrine for destroying enemy armor. When the lead elements radio that they have contact with German panzers, the tank destroyers go forward 'To Seek, Strike, and Destroy'.
Tank destroyers have a thin armor to make them fast and nimble on the battlefield. This means that they should avoid using brute force in stand-up fights and opt for stealth and cunning instead. Send forward the scout cars to find an ambush position and deliver a devastating volley before the Germans even know they are there.
While building more 90mm tank destroyers, a shortage of M10 hulls has led our factories to substitute them with the M4A3 chassis instead. This has resulted in a tough hybrid, known as the M36B1. It's fast, better protected, and armed with a hull-mounted 30-cal machinegun, making it an excellent support weapon.
