Pontoonier Miniatures has released phase I of a two-phase range of Carib Indians. First up… the leaders (chief, shaman and sub-chiefs), spearmen, bowmen and clubmen… all in 28mm pewter… 20 figures in all.
In the pre-Columbian period, the Carib were the main native group in the Caribbean (to which they gave their name). Known as fearsome warriors… and variously as cannibals, headhunters and practitioners of ceremonial human sacrifice… the Carib were feared by other native groups and able to resist the Spanish for a century. Remnants and related native populations can still be found in South America, Central America, and their surrounding island chains.
These miniatures have a variety of uses… fighting other native tribes, Spanish Conquistadors, French, English, and Dutch colonials from the 1600s to the 1800s, pirates, and a host of Amazonian adventures in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through today.
A future release will cover blowguns, muskets, civilians and casualties.
Pontoonier Miniatures are available exclusively at Badger Games.
