One thing I see with marching poses is the sculptor occasionally positioning the arm counter to what the body would naturally do. Arm and leg movement during human locomotion usually swing counter to the forward leg. For example left leg forward (because we all step off with the left foot and take a full 30 inch step) the right arm will also go forward and the left arm will automatically go to the rear. If that isn't drilled out of a recruit, they do a motion known as "bear walking." That is akin to pinning the person's hands to their legs and the result is the left leg and left arm both forward at the same time. A truly awkward pose. Just saying…otherwise I love them…
