My grandfather was the RSM of the field artillery in WW2 and used to tell me about the 'pistol gun' which was a 5.5" gun that was wheeled into a pre dug scrape 3-400m from heavy bunkers or dug in tank turrets etc.

Sounds like there might be quite some work involved in digging the position and wheeling in the gun, especially if you want to do it sneakily enough not to get noticed by the Jerries manning the bunker.
