GiantMonster writes:

@nazrat That was the sketch of the art that would eventually become the cover for GMR 3rd edition. You can see the finished artwork here: link

I decided to use the sketch art because I think it went well with the "work in progress" idea behind the playtest file.

@Warwick13 Thanks! I hope you enjoy the changes, and don't forget to submit your playtest feedback!

Wargame Vault announces the availability of:

Kaiju Rampage Playtest File
Price: $3.00 USD

Publisher: Radioactive Press

The Kaiju Rampage playtest file is a re-imagining of my game Giant Monster Rampage. The reason for the new title is to differentiate it from GMR, at least until playtesting for the game is complete. At that time, the title may be changed to Giant Monster Rampage 4th edition, or it may remain Kaiju Rampage. I will not decide which title to use until I am ready to publish the final version of the game.

I am going to be doing things a bit different with this edition of the game. I want to release the game as soon as possible, but I also don't want to rush it. I want to be able to give you a solid game that plays well and that has a rulebook that is easy to read with lots of great artwork. In order to do that, I need more playtesters and I need to generate some funds to pay for the artwork, editing and layout.

In order to achieve both of those things at the same time, I have decided to release the beta version of the game for sale on Wargame Vault. The money I make off the playtest version will be used to fund the things I mentioned earlier. I also hope that those of you who are willing to purchase the playtest PDF will also be willing to send in feedback on the game, thus helping to increase the amount of playtest data available to me to make the game better.

The playtest file will remain for sale for about a year, or until I feel the game is ready for the next step. During this time, the file will be updated as needed once enough playtest reports have been evaluated; therefore it is important to keep notifications about the file turned on if you want to receive the most recent version of the file. Once I reach the next step, the game will be removed from Wargame Vault as I start the process of securing art and finding an editor and graphic designer.

The finished game will first be available only in print. I have not decided if I will release a PDF version of the finished book. If I do, it will likely be a few years after I release the print version.

Note: The Kaiju Rampage playtest file is a text-only PDF containing the beta rules for the game. This is not the final version of the game. The purpose of this file is to gather playtest feedback and to generate income to pay for a print edition of the game.
