There have been rumors, but now it's official. Reader Tom Bryant writes:

I went to contact Greenfield Hobbies about getting some Folio Works minis, and the secretary said they are filing for Chapter 11. They should be out of business by the end of the month.

("Chapter 11" refers to a particular U.S. law regarding bankruptcy.)

Greenfield Hobbies had been one of the larger hobby distributors, buying product (role-playing games, collectible card games, boardgames, miniatures) from the manufacturers, then selling to retail stores. The company was also the sole source for several miniatures rulesets, including The Sword and the Flame (19th Century colonial rules) and Jagdpanzer (WWII microarmor rules). Hopefully, these products will be purchased by another distributor and remain available. Alternately the products could be remaindered, which means they will be found at discount bins in stores and conventions for a few months before disappearing forever.
