Historical Miniatures RULES
Knights of the Round Table (The Little Soldier) Written by Phil Edgren/Bob Charrette in 1976 as 1:1 miniatures rules, but later recognized by RPGNet as "the first Arthurian RPG." Contains chapters on Combat, Tournaments, Chivalry, Limited Campaign, and Full Campaign. The booklet is in excellent condition, but the sheet of combat cards is missing, so one would have to substitute a different 1:1 combat system to play that part of the rules. The real pleasure in this volume is less in trying to use a 1976 rules system than in reading a wargaming pioneer's very early attempt to create a role-playing world, based on the legend of King Arthur. Very rare. $25 USD
War of the Ring: Mass Battles in Middle Earth (Games Workshop, 2008) Hardbound book, 328 pages of rules, scenarios, and terrain ideas, lavishly illustrated with GW eye candy photos. Orig. $55 USD or more, this copy like new, $20 USD
Tactica Medieval (1992) By Arty Conliffe. Original full-color copy with player aid cards. $15 USD
King of the Battlefield: Eighteenth Century Wargames Rules (2002) By Ian Godwin. Good, clear fast-play rules. $12 USD
Fighting Sail (Osprey, 2015) By Ryan Miller. Age of Sail naval minis rules. Some brilliant ideas in usual Osprey professional presentation. $9 USD
The Wargaming Compendium (Pen & Sword, 2013). By Henry Hyde. Thick paper-bound book (500+ pages!) about every aspect of miniature gaming. Lots of color photos. Includes a set of musket-era rules. List price $35 USD, this copy almost new for $17 USD
Across a Deadly Field: The War in the East (Osprey, 2014) By John Hill. Hard-bound book of ACW scenarios, designed for John Hill's rules but adaptable to other sets. I found a copy on sale for only $15 USD at Harper's Ferry, brought it home, found out I already had one. $12 USD
Science vs Pluck, or Too Much for the Mahdi By Howard Whitehouse. Colonial Sudan game w/separate booklets for players and umpire. $1 USD
Axis and Allies Angels 20 Rulebook (WotC, 2011) "Air Force Miniatures"; WWII air rules. $0 USD
Squadrons: Battle of Britain (Beacon Publications, 1994). By John F. Stanoch. The most recent version of these rules, "Black Cross/Blue Sky," was originally marketed at just over $100. USD It included hex mapsheets, cardboard airplanes on flight stands, and rules that were a refinement of these award-winning original rules. If you already have planes and flight stands, or can't find "Black Cross" on the market, or don't want to spend over $100 USD, try these. $20 USD
Modern Rules (LWS, 1967)(Condensed & Abridged Version). By Z. M. Iwaszko. What was modern then is early Cold War now. $1 USD
