Bugles Banners And War Bonnets,A Study of George Armstrong Custer Seventh Cavalry From Fort Riley To The Little Big Horn by Ernest Reedstrom. The oversized book has 362 pages,HC,DJ and in excellent condition. It was published in 1986 by Bonanza Books.
This is the definitive work on the subject. The book offers a 10 year history of experimental weapons, accoutrements and hair raising exploits of the Seventh Cavalry,as well as daily records from notebooks from officers en route to the Little Big Horn, which are covered in detail. Much attention is also given to the Native American Indians.Their strategy, preparation for battle, warpaint, smoke signals, sign language etc. Sitting Bull's description of the battle is also included. Many photos.

Great book by a good artist who knew his period. This is the reprint, but some dealers list this printing as the first. The first was by Caxton in 1977.
