Any interest in a Vintage Lionel train? 50's I believe. Engine, multiple cars, track and miscellaneous other objects. Everything but the transformer looks good to me.

If interested, let me know and we can work from there.

Any photos? Has it been run recently?

I have a story to tell. Many years ago I used to go hang out at a model train store a couple times a month during my lunch hour. This fellow bought and sold as well as stocking tons of new stuff.

One day I was in there and this boy of about 13 and his mom came in and showed the proprietor this beautiful Norfolk & Western streamlined steam loco and asked him if he was willing to buy it. They said his father had it as a kid and left it to the boy when he divorced Mom, and the boy did not want it. They put it on the test track and it ran fine. The proprietor says "its nice… but if you had the whole set… cars, track, transformer, it would be worth a lot more, and a whole whole lot more if you had the box the set came in. Mom says "be right back… we have all that in the car" and she comes back in with the entire set still pristine in its box.

Proprietor looks it over and says "I'll give you thirteen for it". Mom says "Thirteen dollars? its got to be worth more than that. Proprietor chuckles and says "No, not thirteen dollars. Thirteen HUNDRED dollars."

Boy says "Sold!"

Great punchline! Kinda sad set-up, but still a very good story. Thanks for sharing it.
