- Description
- Often described as resembling "a cheese on a raft." A shallow-draft, low-in-the-water vessel with a prominent central turret.
- Size
- 179' long, 41'6" wide, 10'6" height. 987 tons. 49 crew.
- Propulsion
- Ericsson vibrating trunk engine, 2 boilers, 1 screw, 9 knots.
- Armor
- 8 inches on turret, 9 inches on pilothouse, 4.5 inches on sides, 2 inches on deck.
- Armament
- 2 11" smooth-bore guns in turret.
