Reinforcing Defeat

More often than not, the idea that a losing tabletop battlefield situation can be turned into a winning situation by pushing more units into it is flawed – whatever tactical factors led to the failure of the initial units will usually ensure the same failure for the units following them.
However, a commander can be over-committed to his course of action, convinced that his plan will work if he only throws more units into the grinder. Learn to recognise a losing situation and be flexible enough to abandon a plan if it's not succeeding: Never Reinforce Defeat!
