House Rule
An ad hoc rule, adopted & used by a group of players by mutual consent. House rules may be used in addition to official published rules – for example, to cover a situation the rulebook does not address, or they may be used instead of the official published rule – usually if the players feel the published rule is unbalanced or historically inaccurate.
