Why I Should Be a Finalist

Why should I be a Finalist?

Uhm....I'm not good at saying good things about myself, but here it is:

I love challenge, I love learning new skills, and I definitely love to hear feedback/critique from others. I think the Last Painter Standing contest is a great opportunity for me to push myself farther in my painting skill. So, vote for me, please :)

Ulthuan Bard

This is one of my best work that I painted for Golden Demon Chicago 2003. The simplicity of the figure is really challenging for me to make it "stand out" and look like a character, instead of just a rank-and-file figure. Therefore, I painted the figure in Oriental style; based on my own Oriental culture :)

The Twin Golden Celestial Dragons, patterns on the bottom of the robe, the sash, the ribbon on the trumpet, bandana and the quiver belt were done by freehand painting, while NMM technique was used for the metallic parts. The base has marble pattern with another freehand painting of High Elf rune that means Harmony - which is very suitable for him as Ulthuan Bard. Unfortunately you cannot see the base from this angle, but you can view the figure from different angles here.

It made the first cut, but didn't place. However, I got a lot of compliments from people who saw the figure and that makes me feel great :)

I love this type of challenge. Not just painting figures, but 'creating' and 'bringing out' the character from the figure through painting. I have painted a couple of i-Kore figures before and I love the figures. Simple yet very characteristic.

Well, that's it from me. Thank you!:)
