Empires Review Contest Entries

I'm 57 and have been playing wargames since 1960. My son David McBride, besides being an expert painter, has been playing wargames since he was tall enough to reach the table. We own large fantasy armies in 15mm and 28mm and are experienced in Warhammer, Warmaster, and Chipco's Fantasy Rules!, among others. I have also written my own fantasy rules, for both tactical battles and strategic campaigns. I've also playtested a number of games, including several Civil War boardgames in the old TSS system for SPI. I've also reviewed a number of books and written scenarios for Magweb. So I know how to do a review, and I can do it within the context of a broad knowledge of competing fantasy rules and of gaming concepts.

As mentioned by my father, I have been gaming most of my life. I couldn't begin to count the number of wargames my father and I have played together, nor could I count the number of games we have learned to play together. Over the course of learning a new game, we naturally discuss the pro's and con's of the game, and end up doing a min-review to determine whether the new game is worth playing consistently. Thus, doing a review for Empires would simply involve putting what we do naturally down on paper. I have a real interest in this game since I have purchased many of the Demonworld miniatures to paint and use with my other 15mm figures. I love the miniatures but would also be interested in examining the Empires game.
