Amazon Army Design

For an ‘historical’ HOTT Amazon army, my suggestion is:

1 X Hero General (Amazon Queen in chariot) @ 4AP
3 X Shooters (Bows) @ 6 AP
3 X Warband @ 6 AP
4 X Riders @ 8 AP

A ‘deep penetration’ raiding force could replace the ‘Shooters’ and ‘Warband’ with ‘Riders’, although mobility on the way home would be reduced with wagons of plunder and tied captive males dragged behind horses. Their ‘stronghold’ would be a ramparted city or camp.

For DBA, I would suggest:

1 X Lch (General)
3 X Wb
3 X Bw
4 X Lh
1 X Bw/Lh
CAMP: Ramparted city or baggage wagons

The Amazon’s ‘enemies’ would be 27 (Thracian), 17 (Greek), 10 (Mycenean). An army of Skythians would be identical to the Amazons, but replacing the chariot with Cv.

For DBM, this would need to be expanded into ‘Irregular’ commands and all elements rated as ‘Superior’ and/or ‘Fast’.

At a more tactical level, I suggest a Warhammer Ancient Battles army of 1,000 points, as follows – all using the excellent Eureka Miniatures range – something to help the Trojans fight those nasty invading Greeks (‘Yo – Girl Power! Let Helen go with who she wants’):

Characters

1 X Amazon Queen in chariot. Stats as Trojan War list from Chariot Wars supplement, page 44 (Eureka stock code 100AMZ15) 191 + 39 pts = 230 pts. For Queen herself could substitute 100AMZ09 or 100AMZ14 models

2 X Amazon ‘Heroines’. Stats as Trojan War List from Chariot Wars supplement page 44 (Eureka stock code 100AMZ01 or 100AMZ09) 50 pts (if on horse + 4 pts each, Eureka code 100AMZ11 – or supply standing horse model as heroines dismount to fight!)

Chariotry

4 X units of Cavalry. Stats as Hittite List from Chariot Wars supplement page 30 (Eureka stock codes 100AMZ11 and 100AMZ12) 6 models per unit, usually bow armed @ 96 points per unit.

Infantry

2 X units of Spearwomen. Stats as Trojan War List from Chariot Wars supplement page 44 (Eureka stock code 100AMZ02, 100AMZ03 and 100AMZ04) 10 models per unit @ 50 points per unit.

2 X units of Archers. Stats as Trojan War List from Chariot Wars supplement page 44 (Eureka stock code 100AMZ06 and 100AMZ07) 12 models per unit @ 56 points per unit (the archers ‘special rule’ about mixing with spearwomen applies).

1 X units of Skirmishers – archers or slingers from Chariot Wars supplement page 44 (Eureka stock code 100AMZ07 and 100AMZ08) Should be 2/3rds slingers. 16 models per unit @ 64 points per unit
