401 pages.

Everyone has a secret.

Josune Aarriola has signed on as junior engineer on a cargo ship, but her mission was to plant a tracker.

Hammond Roystan, captain of the ship, has strange health problems and knows too much about the derelict ship they've encountered.

Nika Rik Terry is a top-level body-modder who can resculpt your body, but now she's on the run from an assassin.

Put this together with a universe controlled by mega-companies, when money means more than law, and everyone is after a lost world with a fortune in exotic minerals.

This is a 'space opera' in which a disparate group of characters are thrown together on a starship and forced to bond while being pursued by a greedy, ruthless corporation. Much combat ensues.

I found the novel a little hard to get into, as it requires some concentration to grasp the backstory. After that, it keeps moving at a good clip. Strong plot, but I felt it was weak on characters and relationships. It was easy to guess the 'secret' of the plot. Sets things up for a sequel.

Warning: There is a subplot involving an abusive, violent relationship.

Can you game it? The book provides a variety of weapon types and skirmish situations. The plot could easily be coverted to a gaming campaign.

It's not a bad book. Somewhat recommended.
