Hi Guys, I am pretty sure I am not the first person to do this but over the last three weeks I have been putting together a set of rules to play Battlestar Galactica games using the "A Call to Arms" system from Mongoose Publishing. I have been testing the game and recieving feedback from a few people but I thought I'd release it on TMP for the chance of catching a wider readership. You can download the main PDF (which has the ship stats as well as basic rules mods) here >>> PDF link I have also made available some record sheets for use during the game (if any of the stats on these are different to the main rules, the rules are right
). You can download the record sheets here >>> PDF link And finally, I know not many people have Battlestar Gallactica models so I made a set of counter to play games with. I have 2 PDF's at the moment, one Colonial which gives you the counters for two Battlestars and their fighters and one for the Cylons which gives you the counters for a single Basestar and its fighter compliment. You can download the Colonial counters here >>> PDF link And the Cylons can be found here >>> PDF link Please download and enjoy. If you have any comments or feedback please let me know. Regards, Dave |

There is also a small battle report with pictures here >>> link We were using the counters I had made for the game. Here are a few more pictures of the counters outside of the game
An Acropolis class Battlestar with Viper and Raptor compliment >>> picture I like my counters big
especially when there are aonly five ships on the table
>>> picture The Flat Panel Fleets await their fate in that evenings game

First showing is on a Tuesday night. Wasn't aware of the Thursday repeat, but it was also on last night (Sunday) on Sky One at midnight. There's no limit to the number of times you can watch Lucy Lawless

If you got to youtube.com people post the espoides on there. Only problem is you have to do a search by epsoide title or you'll get a million BSG hits. Usually a couple people post the show in sections. So it will say epsoide title part 1 of 4 and so on. Its not the best but I've had to watch a couple of them on there to keep up. |

There is now an 8th draft of the rules uploaded. You can find it here >>> PDF link I have removed the traditional ACTA prioity Level system as it just wouldn't give the right balance to the different ships. The pints value assigned to the ships are still relativly simple but allowed me to make the ships follow this balance scale
Acropolis and Mercury will be able to defeat a single basestar Acropolis will hold it own against 2 Basestars but it will be a tough fight that it may well have to retreat from. Mercury will be able to defeat 2 Basestars Acropolis will be outmatched by 3 Basestars Mercury will hold it own against 3 Basestars but it will be a tough fight that it may well have to retreat from. Mercury and Acropolis will be outmatched by 4 or more Basestars There have also been several tweaks to the ship stats to reduce the numbers of support craft and reduce the speed of the Basestars. This is all based on feedback from players that have been kind enough to play games with these rules, thanks guys. |

Thanks for the mod. I've never played ACTA before and so picked it up just to use with BSG. So after trying to play, I realized I had some real questions. 1. Can a Basestar fire its missiles at Vipers (ie 12 dice + SAP?!) 2. Can a battlestar reallying bring is 16 AD to bear on a wave of raiders? 3. after hits on fighters (see question 1), is damage rolled as normal (ie 2d6, for 5+)? 4. In which book are rules for Fleet Carriers & Command b/c I have no idea what these mean. Hopefully, I have the correct ACTA ruleset. Thanks! steve |

Ships can fire their main weapons at enemy fighters. When a fighter is hit it makes its dodge roll, if that is failed it takes a point of damage. I think some of the rules being used can be found in Sky Full of Stars as well as the Armageddon Suppliment. You can fins most of the SFOS rules here

Studio Bergstrom makes some nice BSG – like ships. Although, I think they pushed the "battlestar" theme a little too far, in making so many and all are supposed to be Battlestars. Though never seen in the show, lets face it "no" military relies on One type of vessel. I think having one or two with No hanger bays would make for great support warships. If anyone reads this, and is looking for Battlestars as I was, I found some on Shapeways. The best I found so far (but have Not ordered) was listed as "Galactigator". Not a joke, thats how it was listed. Its about 3in long IIRC. And was still listed a week ago when I was last on Shapeways. BTW, Is any one ever get this up and running on a regular basis? |
